who can submit:

• lesbians and those who love them (i.e. people who are in relationships/friendships with lesbians and have love notes to share!)

the purpose of this book is to provide an intimate insight into the lives and relationships of lesbians across the globe, and to contribute a positive and necessary representation of authentic lesbian love (self, romantic and platonic) to today's creative landscape. do with that what you wish.

what to submit:

• high-quality scans of love notes and letters shared between lesbians lovers, ex-lovers, friends, and even addressed to your (lesbian) self.

  • submissions can take the form of typical love notes and letters, visual artwork, poetry, diary entries, text messages, phone notes, photographs (dslr or film camera only), or whatever else you feel is visually pleasing and appropriate for a high-quality book.

• if you don't have a camera or a scanner, email thisishowwelovebook@gmail.com or message @aiiischa on instagram to sort something out!

• submissions must be completely unedited, especially not recoloured or filtered.

• submissions must be uploaded to the form below as PNG, JPEG or TIFF files.

• submissions must be appropriate for readers of all ages. no swearing, overtly sexual language, or anything else you wouldn't happily show a minor.

• you can submit as many times as you like.

• the personal details of the person submitting should be entered, rather than that of the person who sent the love letter (unless that was you, obvs).

• your location should be formatted like this: "glasgow, scotland" or "los angeles, california, USA". if you don't live in a city, write the name of your town or nearest city instead.

privacy:

• if you want to submit something written or made for you by somebody else, please get their permission before sending it to us - especially if it is from an ex. we will not be held liable for any arguments, tears or bad decisions.

• you can choose whether to be identified by your real name, a nickname, your initials or to remain anonymous.

• unfortunately, we must ask that you please consider the safety of yourself and those included in your submission(s) before disclosing your name(s) and/or face(s). this book will be very obviously gay, and we understand that many LGBTQIA+ people will not feel safe publicly associating with or featuring in LGBTQIA+ literature for an abundance of reasons. no outing anyone please. that said, if your safety is guaranteed, we love to put a name and face to a story.

• if any love notes mention the sender/recipients name and you wish for them to be edited, please do NOT attempt this yourself before submitting. email us at thisishowwelovebook@gmail.com and we will sort this out for you.

• similarly, submissions must not include any watermarks, logos, name labels or social media handles.
